Welcome! At Lauhoff Farms, we pride ourselves in raising quality Irish Dexter cattle. Our herd is small, but growing!
This year we expect five of our cows to deliver strong, healthy babies that will be registered with the American Dexter Cattle Association.
Meet our Bulls, our Cows, our 2008 babies, and our 2009 babies!
About Irish Dexter Cattle The Dexter originated in the South Western region of Ireland. Dexter cattle are the smallest breed of cattle in America. They are dual purpose animals producing both quality meat and milk.
Dexter cattle have a broad, deep torso, short legs with noticeably angled back legs and heavily muscled hind quarters. There are two recognized types, short-legged and long-legged.
Cows mature to approximately 800 lbs and are an average of 36-42 inches high at the shoulder. Bulls mature to approximately 1000 lbs and are an average of 38-44 inches high at the shoulder.
Dexter cattle present several colors: black, dun and red.
